Each year, the Leadership Stanly Steering Committee selects a class of gifted and highly motivated leaders for a series of seminars and retreats. Class members are exposed to regional concerns and opportunities through a series of discussion forums.
Monthly programs are planned by experts in economic development, government, public services, transportation, education, and other fields. The programs focus on current decision-making and explore ways in which regional efforts may prove fruitful. Field studies and community awareness visits augment the curriculum.
All class members are required to attend the overnight retreat in September as well as the one-day sessions generally held on the third Wednesday each month October through May.
Class size is limited; an application and review process determines number of participants.
A Community Action Component & Class Project are also required for successful program completion.
The program fee of $900 (Chamber Members) $1,100 (Non-Chamber Members) covers all costs for the nine-month period including: speakers, scheduled meals, lodging, materials, transportation, and the orientation meeting & graduation celebration for each participant and one guest.
